STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS
ALWAYS DEFER TO LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY TO DETERMINE IF CASE CAN BE PROSECUTED.
YOU CAN MAKE A POLICE REPORT AT ANY TIME, BUT CHARGES CAN ONLY BE PRESSED BASED ON THE STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS AT THAT TIME.
ADULTS
Statute of limitations removed, effective 1/1/2020
All cases prior to 1/1/2020, have 10 years to report & must follow law in place when assault occurred in order to be prosecuted.
CHILDREN
Statute of limitations removed, effective 8/11/2017
All cases prior to 8/11/2017, have 20 years to report & must follow law in place when assault occurred in order to be prosecuted.
