The term “sexual violence” is a non-legal umbrella term foe Sexual Assault, Rape, Sexual Abuse and Sexual Harassment.
Sexual violence can have psychological, emotional, and physical effects on a survivor.
Consent is an agreement between individuals engaging in sexual activity. It is important to understand what consent means, and ways consent can be expressed.
Being a survivor of sexual violence may be hard to know how to react. You may be considering working with law enforcement or going to an emergency room, or have other questions arise.
Being a supporter and significant other to a survivor may ring up a variety of questions. You may want to know to support a survivor and know about the options they have.
There are many different laws in Illinois pertaining to Sexual Violence. Here you will learn about different laws, statutes, definitions and victims’ rights. Please remember that laws change from state to state.
Providing resources is a key aspect of NWCASA. It is important for us to help survivors connect with resources that are needed. Here you will find a list of resources in our community as well as at a national level.
